Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer among American women and with October dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness, we are even more committed to educating women about fertility preservation options now available. Our new Fast-track Fertility Preservation Program enables women to fast freeze their eggs or embryos prior to cancer treatment, so they can be fertilized or used at a later date, allowing the possibility of genetic children in the future. Patients in this program are offered discounted rates for treatment and medications. For more program info and our ongoing study visit http://bit.ly/NX4VI We have also joined forces with Fertile Hope's Sharing Hope Program for Women, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to helping support cancer patients faced with Infertility. Their Sharing Hope Program increases access to egg and Embryo freezing for newly diagnosed cancer patients through collaboration with companies and clinics for discounted services and donated medication. Stop by www.fertilehope.org to learn more. Also come and cheer or run with the FCI team at the Susan G. Komen Chicago Race for the Cure in Grant Park this Saturday (9/26). We'll be pounding the pavement in support of the Komen mission to end breast cancer forever and will have experts on hand in the booth after the race, to talk about advances in fertility preservation technologies. No matter what path a patient chooses, options are essential when a shocking diagnosis like cancer is delivered. It crucial for women (and men for that matter), to be made aware of fertility preservation options immediately, allowing the time to pursue necessary treatment. It is important that patients are presented all information, which includes the option of being able to have biological children in the future. Oncologists must step up to the plate in helping us make this dream come true for patients. |
