Why massage?
Our practitioners offer a range of techniques including:
Traditional Thai Massage
Thai massage is based on the same energy lines, or meridians, as acupuncture. It is performed on a dense mat on the floor. The patient is dressed in loose, comfortable clothing to allow for maximum stretching. Starting at the feet and working up to the head, each part of the body is stretched and loosened.
People who are used to Western forms of massage will notice some differences in Thai massage. Western massage focuses on kneading the muscles; Thai massage applies generalized and focused pressure on the body. During a Western massage, the patient remains relatively passive, while Thai massage is more interactive. The practitioner assists the patient in various stretches to increase range of motion and flexibility.
Many of the benefits of Thai massage are the same as acupuncture. Where acupuncture uses needles to stimulate the body, Thai massage uses touch and pressure. Thai massage can help maintain general health, and well-being in the body as well as significantly reduce stress and increase blood flow. It also benefits circulation, relieves muscle tension, improves flexibility, and increases energy. A standard session lasts between 1.5 and 2 hours.
