Fertility Centers of Illinois (FCI) is pleased to announce our participation in a new clinical research study sponsored by Granata Bio: The GRACE Study — Human Menopausal Gonadotropin Research in Infertility Assessing Cumulative Live Birth with Frozen Transfer.

Our decades of groundbreaking research have contributed significantly to assisted reproductive technologies (ART) and continue to inform the field through publication in leading peer-reviewed journals.

Study Overview

This multicenter, randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind study will be conducted exclusively at FCI’s River North Center for Reproductive Health in Chicago, and aims to evaluate cumulative live birth outcomes in women undergoing IVF/PGT-A/FET treatment.

Eligible participants will receive two complementary IVF/PGT-A cycles and up to three frozen embryo transfer (FET) cycles, including all medications required for the IVF and FET process.

Study subjects will be randomized: placebo is age dependent as follows:

  • Ages 18–34: Randomization is 2:1 to receive either human menopausal gonadotropin or placebo
  • Ages 35–42: Randomization is 3.75:1 to receive either human menopausal gonadotropin or placebo

Note: Randomization occurs in the FIRST IVF CYCLE ONLY. All patients that enter IVF cycle #2 will receive active drug.

Enrollment: Begins November 2025

Participant Eligibility

We are specifically looking for women who fit the following criteria:

  • Pre-menopausal women aged 18-42 years old
  • BMI ≥18 and <38 kg/m²
  • Regular menstrual cycles between 21-35 days
  • FSH levels <10 mIU/mL for women aged 18-35 and <15 mIU/mL for women aged 35-42 and within (3) three months prior to screening
  • Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) >1.2 ng/ml within 6 months of screening
  • Antral Follicle Count (AFC) >5
  • Hysterosalpingography, hysteroscopy or saline infusion sonography, documenting a normal uterine cavity within 1 year prior to screening
  • Intention to achieve pregnancy within 12 months of the first IVF stimulation cycle
  • Willing to undergo up to two IVF ovarian stimulation cycles prior to frozen embryo transfer
  • Willing to undergo PGT-A testing, and transfer of a single, euploid frozen embryo
  • No more than one IVF cycle canceled due to inability to meet ovulation trigger criteria.
  • No history of recurrent implantation failure (RIF)
  • No history of recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) is defined by two or more miscarriages
  • No morphological sperm evidence of globozoospermia or prior failed oocyte fertilization in previous IVF cycle (TESE sperm not allowed)
