Biography

Dr. Burks Chatmon earned her medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine, followed by an internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Rush University Medical Center. After completing a Recurrent Pregnancy Loss fellowship at University of Illinois at Chicago, she went on to fulfill a Reproductive Endocrinology fellowship at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center.

Her training and medical research around recurrent pregnancy loss affords her unique insight into the most cutting-edge treatment solutions in the field. She has also presented data to the medical community around evaluating ovarian supply, assessing oocyte (egg) health and viability, and analyzing success rates with frozen embryos, single embryo transfers and genetic screening of embryos prior to transfer.

A lifelong Midwesterner who champions the importance of family, Dr. Burks Chatmon considers compassionate care and shared decision-making the cornerstones of every patient relationship. She is driven to address racial and ethnic disparities in reproductive medicine and committed to increasing education, health literacy and access to fertility care for all.

Q&A

I consider it an honor to be able to stand alongside my patients during their journey to overcome challenges with infertility and/or pregnancy loss in order to fulfill their dream of starting or expanding upon their family.

I am most proud of the strong relationships that I am able to build with my patients. By sincerely listening to the unique story of each patient, I am able to provide them with individualized and evidence-based treatment options and through shared decision-making with each patient, determine a plan.

I was drawn to reproductive medicine due to the importance of family in my own personal life and the innovative nature of the field. I am excited to walk alongside my patients in their journey to build upon their own families and am proud to be a part of a field that is constantly evolving and developing new and exciting technologies with the goal of improving patient outcomes.

Prior to my training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, I completed a fellowship in Recurrent Pregnancy Loss, providing me with a special interest and experience helping patients that struggle with pregnancy loss. I also take a special interest in reproductive surgery, and the management of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome as well as other ovulatory dysfunction disorders. Finally, addressing racial and ethnic disparities in reproductive medicine including increasing education, health literacy and promoting improved access to fertility care will be a life-long goal for me during my career.

I strive to provide my patients with compassionate, personalized, evidence-based treatment plans that focus of their specific needs and wishes.

I was a Division I Cheerleader for four years at Indiana University.

I always enjoy spending time with family and friends. As a girl from Indiana, I grew up watching a lot of basketball and football. To this day I love watching sports and the Colts and Hoosiers will always have a special place in my heart. I also love working out and try to sneak in a Peloton or Orange Theory class whenever I can.
