Why do you want to share your story?

The reason why I want to share my story is for other women not to lose hope and always have faith with God.

What was your infertility diagnosis?

At first it was unexplained infertility, then polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), then I had one fallopian tube removed and also had fibroids. My husband and I have been married since 2009, and we wanted to start a family right away, however, back then we knew we had fertility issues such as PCOS, fibroids, male factor infertility, etc.

What fertility treatment did you undergo?

Clomid, IUI, IVF, Metformin. The first clinic we went to, I had an intrauterine insemination (IUI) and got pregnant but it turned out ectopic, so they needed to remove a fallopian tube. The first round of IVF was unsuccessful, so we decided to change clinics and we found FCI River North.

The first time we met Dr. Kaplan, my husband and I liked him right away, so I did a second round of in vitro fertilization (IVF) with intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) with day five transfer but it was unsuccessful. So from middle of 2013 until 2016 we took a break from fertility treatment and saved money. When I was ready to try it again in August, I went straight back to FCI. The lady who helped me choose a different doctor was Carmen because at that time, Dr. Kaplan had a full schedule.

I met Dr. Rapisarda; he was so kind and reviewed my history thoroughly. I told him I was willing to try the endometrial receptivity analysis (ERA) procedure before the actual frozen embryo transfer (FET) and I’m glad that I did because it turned out I needed more progesterone. February 6, the day of my first actual FET, I was nervous and before the procedure they asked me how many embryos I wanted to transfer. I signed the papers and told them I am willing to take the risks of three embryos being implanted. Then after two horrible weeks of waiting, the nurse called me and told me that I was pregnant – the tears of joy were flowing to my cheeks.

How would you describe your experience with your physician?

Dr. Rapisarda was aggressive and willing to listen to his patients.

Why did you trust Fertility Centers of Illinois?

I chose FCI because I believe in their expertise.

Do you have any words of hope for others?

“Worth the wait” and “never give up” are true statements indeed. FCI helped me a lot to fulfill my dreams of being a mother. Always trust in God and in your journey – it will happen.

Tell us about your little miracle!

On September 2nd, I gave birth to a baby boy and we named Bradly Will Cooper. He couldn’t just wait – my husband’s birthday is September 3rd and mine is the 5th.
