Nothing Is Impossible When You Have the Right Team to Support You
Why do you want to share your story?
I started the in vitro fertilization (IVF) process to give our son a sibling when I was 39. I had suffered recurrent pregnancy loss and knew this was my only option at safely growing our family. I want families to know that no matter what you’ve gone through nothing is impossible when you have the right team to support you.
How would you describe your experience with your physician?
Dr. John Rapisarda was so empathetic to our past loss history. He was so supportive and even had his nurse check on me after my D&C for miscarriage prior to starting treatment. It meant a lot to get that call and know he was thinking of me.
What infertility treatments did you undergo?
We did IVF leading up to our frozen embryo transfer with genetic testing and an endometrial receptivity array in between treatment.
What helped you get through treatment?
Getting support from Dr. Rapisarda and his team helped as well as weekly acupuncture at Pulling Down the Moon. I also have a great therapist that specializes in working with clients that have infertility.
Do you have any words of wisdom for others?
Don’t let finances get in the way of doing IVF. I organized a virtual 5K during the peak of COVID and signed up for additional insurance to help defer the cost of our treatment, so we ended up paying very little out of pocket.
Tell us about your little miracle!
Lottie Cathryne was born on December 15th. She joins our son Oliver and 4 angel siblings to complete our family. We are so grateful to Dr. Rapisarda who performed my egg retrieval and FET.
