One married dad shares his journey through infertility to twins
Why do you want to share your story?
I want to share my story to ‘normalize’ the concept of needing ‘help’ and point out obstacles.
What led you to the Fertility Centers of Illinois?
I was drawn to Dr. John Rapisarda because he was trained at Michael Reese – an OB-GYN center of excellence years ago. Also, the location and collaboration.
How would you describe your experience with your physician?
Terrific from day one. We sat in his office and discussed the process after an insurance review.
What helped you get through treatment?
Fortunately, my group insurance covered in vitro fertilization (IVF) like any other healthcare treatment. My trust in the FCI team. A long-time friend had recently been successful at an FCI center.
Do you have any words of hope for others?
Look at the experience, compassion, and flexibility of your provider. Be realistic. We were fortunate to be successful in the first round. It doesn’t always happen that way.

Our boy-girl twins are 11. They made us parents and we couldn’t have done it without FCI!
