Why do you want to share your story?

To raise awareness and give hope to others who may find themselves in similar circumstances. Infertility can feel very isolating, and for me personally, knowing that there are others who have also faced this battle and have overcome it helped give me the strength to keep pushing forward.

What helped you get through treatment?

In vitro fertilization (IVF) can be an intense process both physically and mentally. During treatment, I tried to do positive things to keep me going such as a fun playlist of upbeat songs to play when giving myself shots and saving a special dessert treat for after I was done. There are also many support groups that you can find online. Infertility can feel very isolating and just having a group of people to talk to who understand what you are going through can help keep you above water when times get tough throughout the process.

Why did you trust Fertility Centers of Illinois?

Once I visited for a consultation I felt comfortable with the staff and doctor right away. They knew what they were talking about and made sure to explain everything thoroughly. They made feel like I was cared about as a person rather than just a patient and always answered any questions I had right away even if the question seemed silly.

How would you describe your experience with your physician?

I cannot recommend Dr. John Rapisarda enough. He is kind and has an excellent bedside manner which is important with this type of treatment however, he was also very straightforward with me as well which I appreciate. I respected his honesty. He was knowledgeable and never pressured us in any way. He answered any questions we had thoroughly and made sure that we were comfortable with our decisions.

Tell us about your little miracle!

James is 8 weeks old and came into this world healthy and bigger than anticipated at 8 lb 5 oz and 21 inches. He is an adorable, happy little boy that loves to smile and giggle. He sleeps well at night although during the day he prefers fighting naps, and he loathes tummy time. He is a joy to us and everyone that meets him. He is worth everything it took to bring him into the world.

Do you have any words of hope for others?

I know this is hard. It was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life and I know it probably is for you too. Don’t give up hope. Keep persevering, trust your instincts, and I wish you the best of luck. The end goal is worth the wait.
