Why do you want to share your story?

I’ve known several people who unfortunately faced infertility, but I never have met anyone with secondary infertility (infertility after having a child). I thought people who are going through a similar experience might find comfort in our story.

What was your infertility diagnosis?

My husband and I had two children so when we wanted another child we were very puzzled on why we weren’t able to get pregnant.  After two years of trying we went to Fertility Centers of Illinois. A series of tests determined that I had possible Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and my husband had some mobility and count issues.  Either of which on their own would be ok, but combined they proved to be why we were having such difficulty.  We were very grateful that we sought help.

What fertility treatment did you undergo?

We went through two In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) cycles.  Our first cycle resulted in zero embryos.  We’ve had several friends go through IVF and we’ve never heard of this happening.  We felt very discouraged.  Dr. Allison Rodgers even called us on a Sunday to discuss what had happened.  I felt like we truly were a team.  In our hearts we knew our journey wasn’t over so we tried again.  This time we had success.  I will never forget receiving the phone call telling us we were pregnant!

What helped you get through treatment?

Fertility treatment isn’t easy.  Many people aren’t open to discussing their journey.  We were fortunate to have friends who’ve gone down the infertility path and were willing to help us navigate.  There are several support groups out there as well. Our nurses and Dr. Rodgers were also very kind and supportive.

Why did you trust Fertility Centers of Illinois?

We heard many positive stories about Fertility Centers of Illinois.  We are very grateful to the team for going above and beyond to help us achieve success.

Tell us about your little miracle!

Our little girl was born healthy and happy in September.  She is the light of our lives.  We feel our family is complete.  Embarking on this journey just makes us more grateful for the family we’ve created.

Do you have any words of hope for others?

Even in your darkest hours, there is hope.  Don’t give up!
