There Are Many Paths to Motherhood. Each One is Worth It.

Patient Q&A with Julie

Why do you want to share your story?

To spread awareness that even women considered “young” can still have issues and not to be embarrassed.

What led you to Fertility Centers of Illinois and why did you trust us?

Recommendations from others.

What was the infertility diagnosis?

Unexplained infertility

Which Fertility Centers of Illinois physician(s) treated you?

Dr. Edward L. Marut (now retired)

How would you describe your experience with your physician(s)?

I loved Dr. Marut. He was very straightforward, which I appreciate. When our daughter was born, I brought her with at 2 months old for my appointment. You could see the joy in his face when he saw her. You could see how much he loves his profession and even after all these years, every baby is still so important to him.

What infertility treatment(s) did you undergo?

IUI, IVF, and Frozen IVF

What helped you through treatment physically and/or emotionally?

Honestly, I was singing Rachel Plattens “fight song”, sometimes through the tears. There’s really not a lot that can make what you're going through seem ok, because it’s unfair, so I would let myself feel those emotions but remind myself that there were so many different paths to motherhood and I’d get there one way or another.

Do you have any words of wisdom for others?

You are stronger than you know, braver than you think. This isn’t fair, but you can do this. One day you’ll barely remember this nightmare.

Tell us about your little miracle!

Scarlett is 5 years old now! She’s the smartest and sweetest little girl. She loves the cold weather, which I like to tease because she was one frozen :). She’s so strong and I tell her she’s my real-life superhero because she saved me more than she’ll ever know.
